See the recipes
  • 8pages at most
  • 9looks
  • 36credits for 3 pages with the default models
  • 71credits for 8 pages with covers

Entry I

Start here

Run /story-book with a premise (up to 1500 characters). Attach a character photo to base the hero on; it is fixed once you submit.

The panel sets Pages (default 3), Look (Picture book, Manga, Comic, Graphic novel, Watercolor, Gouache, Linocut print, Cut paper and Colored pencil), Kind (Bedtime, Adventure, Fable, Funny, Rhyming and Gently spooky), and Layout. Leave Look and Kind on Auto and the planner picks. Models picks the planner (default Grok 4.6) and the art model (default Seedream 4.5 (uncensored)); only art models that take a reference picture are offered. Words and Covers are buttons.

Entry II

Words and layout

Words: Typeset text (up to 140 characters a page), Text drawn in the art (up to 40 characters a page), No words. Typeset text is set in code under the picture, so it is always spelled right; drawn text is lettered by the image model and can go wrong.

Layout: Auto — follows the look, One scene per page, Comic panels · light, 2–3 a page, Comic panels · standard, 4–5 a page and Comic panels · dense, 6–8 a page. Manga, Comic and Graphic novel are comics by default. A comic letters its own speech bubbles, so its words are drawn, never typeset; bubbles hold up to 70 characters.

Entry III

The script step

Press Generate and the credits are reserved, then the planner writes a script: a title, the character and what each page shows and says. Before anything is drawn you can edit any page (the picture, the words, the camera, or the panels of a comic page), change the Title & character, or Retry script up to 3 times. Draw makes the pictures; Cancel refunds everything. A script left too long expires and is refunded.

After delivery, Redraw a page redraws one page for the price of one picture (5 credits with the default art model).

Entry IV

A premise that works

Who, what they want, what is in the way

"A small lighthouse is afraid of the dark, until a lost boat needs its light." That is a whole book.

Fit the length

One idea fills 8 pages. Three adventures in one premise get one page each.

Describe the hero once

Name, age, one or two things they always wear. The book keeps them the same on every page.

Pick a kind for the ending

Bedtime ends calm, Fable shows a lesson, Funny turns a running joke on the last page.

Entry V

Every option

What you can type after /story-book, read from the command itself. You can run it again after 30 seconds.

A bedtime book

Copy this

/story-book premise: Pip, a small grey mouse in a red scarf, cannot sleep because the moon looks lonely. He climbs to the roof to keep it company and falls asleep under the stars.

Why it works. One hero with a fixed look, one want, a calm end. Kind: Bedtime, Look: Watercolor, 6 pages.

A comic adventure

Copy this

/story-book premise: Two kids find a map in their grandmother's attic that leads to a hidden door in the school library. character: (photo)

Why it works. Look: Comic or Manga, Layout: standard panels. The character photo keeps the hero recognisable.

A gift book

Copy this

/story-book premise: Our dog Biscuit, a scruffy brown terrier, saves the family picnic from a gang of greedy seagulls.

Why it works. Real names and a real pet make a personal book. Turn Covers on to give it a front and back.

Tips

  1. I

Read the script before drawing. A one-line fix there is free; a redrawn page is not.

  2. II

Use Typeset text for reading aloud; it never misspells.

  3. III

Start with fewer pages to try a look, then make the full book.

Entry VIII

Limits

  • 1 to 8 pages, and comic pages up to 8 panels.

  • One book at a time, 30 seconds between commands, and 30 minutes for the whole book.

  • The character photo cannot be changed after you submit.

Entry IX

Questions

What does a book cost?

1 picture for the character sheet, one per page, 2 more for covers, and 2 planner calls. With the default models: 41 credits for 4 pages, 61 for 8, 71 with covers. The Generate button shows the exact total.

Can I write the whole text myself?

Write it into the premise, then correct each page in the script step before drawing.

The character changed between pages

Describe their look once in the premise or the Title & character step, and attach a photo. Redraw a page that drifted.
